Dawn Mailloux-Smith

Dawn Mailloux-Smith is in her third year as an Assistant Athletic Director for Mansfield ISD and her 24th year in public education.  Before moving into her current position Coach Mailloux-Smith was the head girls basketball coach and athletic coordinator at Summit High School for 3 years and served as the varsity assistant the 2 years prior to taking over as the head coach.

Coach Mailloux-Smith has been a part of Mansfield ISD and the athletic department for 16 of her 24 years in education.  She came to Mansfield ISD in the fall of 1997 as an assistant coach at Mansfield High School where she was a part of the Lady Tiger basketball program from 1997-2002 and 4 consecutive girls’ state basketball championships as an assistant coach.

In her 8 years not in Mansfield, she served as a middle school coach in Groesbeck ISD her first year of teaching and coaching, the head coach at McKinney Boyd High School in McKinney ISD for 3 years where she led the girls’ basketball program to the regional quarterfinals in the 2nd year of the school opening, and the head coach at South Grand Prairie High School in Grand Prairie ISD for 4 years.

Coach Mailloux-Smith attended Tarleton State University and received a Bachelors of Science in English and Exercise & Sports Studies and holds lifetime State Board of Educator certificates in English, Special Education, and Physical Education.  At Tarleton, she played women’s basketball and was a member of the 1991-1992 NAIA Final Four team, 1992-1993 NAIA Final Four Semi-Finalist team, and is a Tarleton State Hall of Fame Inductee in 2013.  

She is a member of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, Texas High School Athletic Directors Association, Texas High School Coaches Association, and the Texas Girls’ Coaches Association.

Dawn and her husband Rodrick ‘Roc’ Smith have been married for 18 years and have one daughter, Kaylee Smith, who is a junior at Lake Ridge High School.

Coach Mailloux-Smith is passionate about the value that athletics and extracurricular activity add to our students’ middle school and high school experience and works to support the coaches on and off the field of play
