Philip O'Neal
Philip O’Neal is entering his 34th year as a professional educator. He began his career as a mathematics teacher and coach in Red Oak. He later taught and coached in Temple, Copperas Cove and Weatherford. While in Weatherford, Mr. O’Neal eventually was named the executive director of athletics following a stint as the assistant athletic director. After being in Weatherford for 20 years, Mr. O’Neal left to become the athletic director in Fort Bend ISD. Mr. O’Neal joined the Mansfield ISD team as athletic director prior to the 2016-2017 school year.
Mr. O’Neal earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Wayland Baptist University and his Master of Education from Tarleton State University. He holds Texas State Board of Education Certifications (SBEC) in all level physical education, secondary business administration as well as principal and superintendent certifications.
Mr. O’Neal and his wife, Jamie, have one son Stewart (27) who is a graduate of Texas Tech (energy commerce) and currently a corporate land man for Conoco; daughter in law Shelby (23) who is a graduate of Texas A&M (petroleum engineer); and one grandson Mitchell (3). They reside in Richmond, Texas.
