Tammy Lusinger

Tammy Lusinger joined MISD as the Varsity Assistant basketball coach in 2002 when Summit High School opened.  In 2007, she became the Athletic Coordinator and Head Women’s basketball coach.  After a successful stint as the head coach, winning State Championships in 2009 and 2012, Coach Lusinger was named Assistant Athletic Director in June 2015.  

Coach Lusinger is entering her 28th year of service in Texas public schools.   She started her career in the Houston area, teaching Math and coaching at Clear Creek High School.  She was named the Head Women’s basketball coach 4 years later at La Porte High School.  Coach Lusinger had the same role at Richland High School and then Dripping Spring High School before joining the Mansfield ISD family.  

Coach Lusinger earned her Bachelor of Arts at Schreiner University where she also competed on the basketball and tennis teams.   After graduating from Schreiner, she was a Graduate Assistant in the Kinesiology Department at Texas A&M University while earning a Master of Science in Kinesiology.  In 2012, Coach Lusinger earned a Master of Education in Administration at Lamar University.  She holds lifetime State Board of Educator certifications in Mathematics, Physical Education, and Health Education.   She also currently holds a Principal certification.

Coach Lusinger can never remember a time in her life that sports did not play an important part.   She is thankful to be a part of MISD and the prestigious athletic department.   Having the opportunity to be a part of this great District and community is a blessing every day.
